Description
Burgundy "Montre cul" 2022 from Domaine Chapuis & Chapuis
Brothers Romain and Jean-Guillaume Chapuis, who come from a family line rooted in Burgundy viticulture, launched the "Chapuis Frères" estate in 2009 in Pommard. With 4 hectares of vines and purchases of often organic grapes, their range includes Savigny les Beaune, Chorey les Beaune and Pernand-Vergelesses. Following the success, they moved to Ladoix, adopting a low-intervention approach, favouring indigenous yeasts and limiting the use of sulphur and oak barrels. The wines, harvested by hand, are distinguished by their aromatic freshness and their immediate drinkability, reflecting the Burgundian terroir.
This 2022 Bourgogne "Montre Cul", made by the Chapuis brothers, is a novelty in the range of Romain and Jean-Guillaume Chapuis, two young and dynamic winemakers from a long line of winemakers in the region. At the head of their own estate since 2009, known as Chapuis & Chapuis, these brothers cultivate a historic vineyard located in the north of the Côte de Nuits, not far from Dijon.
Despite its abandonment by winegrowers after phylloxera, in favour of the prestigious vineyards to the south, Montrecul is now regaining its brilliance thanks to a few young winegrowers, including the Chapuis brothers, who are working to highlight this superb terroir. Indeed, Montrecul is one of the very few regional appellation Climats authorized to mention their name on the label, thus symbolizing the rebirth of the historic Climats of Dijon. The Pinot Noir of this cuvée draws all its finesse and aromatic complexity from this steep south-facing slope, at an altitude of 300 meters. Beyond its natural finesse, this wine impresses with its complexity and great structure, offering notes of wild strawberry, peony, sour cherry, elderberry and raspberry, all harmoniously framed by a superb oakiness. A new success from the Chapuis brothers!
