Magnum Champagne Extra-Brut "742 D.T." | Wine from La Maison Jacquesson
The Maison Jacquesson, located in Dizy near Épernay, is today a symbol of excellence in Champagne. Founded in 1798 by Claude Jacquesson, this house experienced rapid success under Napoleon before falling into obscurity. It was only in 1974, under the passionate leadership of the brothers Jean-Hervé and Laurent Chiquet, that Jacquesson regained its former glory. Today, the house is an essential reference for champagne enthusiasts, producing cuvées of unparalleled finesse and depth.
The Magnum Champagne Extra-Brut "742 D.T." is a remarkable cuvée, part of the famous 700 series of cuvées. This version, based on the 2014 harvest, benefited from late disgorgement, offering it extraordinary aromatic richness and complexity. This champagne is crafted with a blend of the region's finest grape varieties: Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Meunier. It is characterized by a vibrant freshness, a concentration of flavors, and a silky texture, all enhanced by long aging in the cellar.
The Magnum Champagne Extra-Brut "742 D.T." reveals complex aromas of ripe fruits, brioche, and minerality. On the palate, the attack is lively, with a beautiful acidity that perfectly balances the notes of dried fruits and pastry. The finish is long and persistent, marked by an elegant minerality that invites a second sip.
This champagne will beautifully accompany sophisticated dishes such as seafood, scallops, or even caviar. For meat lovers, it will also enhance dishes based on roasted poultry or white meat in a light sauce. Finally, for a sweet pairing, try it with delicate desserts like a pear tart or a lemon shortbread.
