Description
Burgundy Red 2022 | Wine from Domaine Lucien Muzard & Son
The domaine Lucien Muzard & Fils, founded in the 1960s by Lucien Muzard, saw his sons Claude and Hervé join him in 1987 and 1990 respectively after solid wine training and practical experience in neighboring estates. They gradually stopped selling in bulk to devote themselves entirely to selling bottles from 18 hectares of vines, composed of 80% reds and 20% whites. In 2019, Capucine, Claude's daughter, joined the family business, contributing to the development of new vintages through trading activity.
Burgundy Red wine 2022 from Domaine Lucien Muzard & Filscomes from vines located half in Santenay, at the bottom of the hillside of Maranges, and half near Chassagne-Montrachet. The vines grow on clay-marl-limestone soil. The soil is plowed, the vines are disbudded, raised, stripped of leaves, aerated and harvested by hand. During vinification, the grapes are never crushed, with 70% destemmed and 30% whole harvest. The alcoholic fermentation uses native yeasts and the wine is lightly punched during vatting. After 15 to 20 days, the wine is aged in Burgundian barrels, including 15 to 20% new barrels, with a portion aged in vats.
