The Domaine du Pélican, under the direction of Guillaume d’Angerville, embodies the perfect union between the Burgundian wine tradition and the unique terroirs of the Jura. Guillaume, a descendant of the lineage that also manages the Domaine Marquis d’Angerville in Volnay, was inspired by the aromatic richness of an Arbois Chardonnay tasted blind in 2007. This estate, located not far from Volnay for rigorous supervision, has successfully integrated respectful practices and careful winemaking, highlighting the marly terroirs of Arbois.

The Arbois Blanc "En Barbi Chardonnay" 2022 is a cuvée representative of the excellence of Domaine du Pélican. Made from vines aged 10 to 45 years, planted on marly soils and at altitude, this cuvée offers a perfect balance between power and minerality. The grapes, gently crushed, are pressed and then fermented in barrels and foudres to develop deep aromas. About 30% of the wine is aged in oak barrels, bringing a subtle aromatic complexity without altering the characteristic freshness of Jura Chardonnay.

This Chardonnay unveils delicate aromas of white fruits and white flowers, supported by a chiseled minerality due to the marly soils of Arbois. The palate is ample, structured, with a beautiful tension that balances the volume and freshness of the wine. The finish, persistent and elegant, leaves a saline imprint that invites tasting.

Perfect to accompany fine and light dishes, Arbois Blanc "En Barbi Chardonnay" 2022 pairs ideally with grilled fish or light sauce fish, seafood and shellfish, white poultry, and aged cheeses from Jura, notably Comté.
