Fleurie Rouge 2020 | Wine from Domaine Lafarge-Vial
Domaine Lafarge-Vial was born from the ambition of Chantal, Frédéric, and Clotilde Lafarge, enriched by their experience at the prestigious family estate in Volnay, Burgundy. In 2014, they embarked on a new adventure by acquiring old vines in Fleurie, at the heart of Beaujolais. These plots, initially cultivated organically and then converted to biodynamics, are carefully maintained: horse plowing, goblet pruning, and winemaking according to Burgundian methods. Domaine Lafarge-Vial thus combines respect for traditions with a sustainable commitment to produce exceptional wines.
The Fleurie Rouge 2020 comes from an exceptional vintage. The climatic conditions, marked by high temperatures and low rainfall, led to limited yields, but the quality of the grapes was remarkable. This wine reveals powerful and deep aromas, silky tannins, and a hint of acidity that perfectly balances its generosity. Vinified in respect of Burgundian techniques, this Fleurie combines density, typicity, and accessibility, perfectly characterizing the elegance of the Gamay grape.
Visually, this Fleurie presents an intense garnet red color. The nose opens with complex aromas of ripe red fruits, like cherry and raspberry, with floral notes of violet and a hint of spice. On the palate, the attack is ample and generous, supported by fine tannins and a beautiful acidity. The wine evolves into a long and elegant finish, where mineral and peppery nuances are expressed.
This Fleurie Rouge 2020 pairs perfectly with refined dishes. Try it with duck breast with cherries, roasted pork tenderloin with herbs, or stuffed quail with mushrooms.
