Description

VDF Red "Je Suis Ton Père" 2022 | Wine from Domaine Matthieu Barret

The Domaine Matthieu Barret is located in the heart of the Northern Rhône, a region known for its rich and varied terroirs. Matthieu Barret, a passionate winemaker, is recognized for his innovative and nature-respectful approach, favoring practices without chemical inputs and minimalist aging to allow the purity of the fruit to express itself. This estate is in organic conversion, reflecting a philosophy deeply rooted in respect for the terroir and biodiversity. Barret strives to ensure that every bottle is the most faithful reflection of its natural environment.

The VDF Red "Je Suis Ton Père" 2022 is a tribute to the Duréza grape, a historical Rhône variety and the genetic parent of Syrah. This 100% Duréza wine is the result of clay-limestone silt soils, influenced by granitic elements, which give the wine beautiful minerality and a unique structure. The vines are cultivated on the Plateau des Arlettes in Cornas, an exceptional terroir that brings richness and depth. Thanks to 7 months of aging in concrete egg tanks, this wine reveals all the finesse and freshness of the Duréza variety, while expressing a beautiful purity of fruit.

This 2022 vintage offers a fresh and elegant aromatic profile. On the palate, it presents a perfect ripeness, with aromas of red and black fruits, a hint of spices, and a slightly rustic finish, typical of ancient grape varieties. The aging in concrete tanks allows for a natural and sincere expression, without woody dominance, which enhances the precision of flavors. It is a light wine with a beautiful structure and a moderate alcohol content of 11%, ideal for those seeking a refined and easy-to-drink wine.

The VDF Red "Je Suis Ton Père" 2022 pairs beautifully with simple yet flavorful dishes that reveal its authentic character, such as a plate of artisan charcuterie, grilled white meat, a dish of oven-roasted vegetables, or a savory tart like a quiche with fresh herbs.

Its light and fresh profile also makes it a good companion for tapas or casual appetizers.
