Domaine Matthieu Barret, a family-owned estate in the heart of the Rhône Valley, stands out for its commitment to organic and biodynamic farming, minimizing the use of inputs to maintain the natural balance of the soil and the purity of the grapes. The vineyard soil is primarily worked by mules and draft horses, handled by experts in animal traction. Treatments are limited to a few applications of sulfur and copper, with only natural sulfur sources being used. Amendments, made from composted sheep manure, are applied manually.

Respect for biodiversity is paramount at the estate, with initiatives such as creating water points, preserving wild banks, and protecting existing trees. The target yield is between 20 to 30 hectoliters per hectare, focusing on quality rather than quantity.

In the cellar, grapes are handled by gravity, with no additives used during vinification. Gentle extraction methods, such as small pump-overs or punch-downs, are employed. Since 2017, oak barrels have been replaced by cement and terracotta vats, allowing the pure aromas of the grapes to shine without interference from the container. The wines are bottled on-site, with a goal of maintaining low sulfur levels around 30 mg/l.
