Description
Nuits-Saint-Georges Premier Cru Rouge "Château-Gris" Monopole 2018 from Domaine Château-Gris of the Albert Bichot house
The Domaine Château-Gris, a property of the Maison Albert Bichot, is located in the heart of the Côte de Nuits in Burgundy. Founded in 1831, the house has successfully combined tradition and modernity while adopting organic practices since the 2000s. Albéric Bichot's commitment to the environment is reflected in the sustainable viticulture implemented in each domain of the house. The Domaine Château-Gris, located in Nuits-Saint-Georges, is a 2.55-hectare vineyard that benefits from a unique terroir and produces high-quality wines. This domain is distinguished by its vineyard terraces, which give the wine its unique identity.
The Nuits-Saint-Georges Premier Cru "Château-Gris" Monopole 2018 is a red wine made entirely from Pinot Noir, the emblematic grape variety of Burgundy. This monopole, exclusive to the domain, is produced on clay-limestone soils located between 260 and 330 meters in altitude. With vines aged 35 to 40 years, this wine perfectly reflects the richness of the terroir. The winemaking process begins with manual harvesting, followed by a fermentative maceration in thermoregulated wooden vats for 18 to 21 days. The aging, in oak barrels (35 to 40% new), lasts 16 to 17 months, giving the wine an elegant tannic structure.
Visually, the Nuits-Saint-Georges "Château-Gris" 2018 presents a deep ruby hue. On the nose, it reveals a refined bouquet of red fruit (cherry, raspberry) and black fruit (blackberry, black currant) aromas, enhanced with floral touches like violet and woody nuances. On the palate, this wine is full and velvety, with well-integrated tannins and a beautiful freshness in the finish. The aromatic persistence highlights notes of ripe fruits and sweet spices.
The Nuits-Saint-Georges Premier Cru "Château-Gris" Monopole 2018 pairs perfectly with roasted meats, such as a roast beef or game. It also complements sauced dishes, such as beef bourguignon or coq au vin, and goes well with strong cheeses like Brie de Meaux or Pont-l'Évêque.
