Description
Saint-Romain Red Wine "Sous la Roche" 2020 Domaine Henri & Gilles Buisson
The Henri & Gilles Buisson estate in Saint-Romain, certified organic since 2009, now works its entire vineyard biodynamically. The family name Buisson is intimately linked to the destiny of Saint-Romain, a wine-growing village since its origins. All of them, as far back as we can remember, have always worked the vines since 1758. It was Henri Buisson, a true pioneer, who bought 5 hectares of vines and thus wrote the first page of the family destiny, setting up as an independent vigneron in 1947, the date on which Saint-Romain obtained its AOC. The "Henri et Gilles Buisson" estate has been claiming this independence and freedom ever since, by practising a wine culture that is faithful to its deepest values. Franck and Frédérick Buisson, sons of Gilles and grandsons of Henri, took up the torch in 2008 and placed the family estate at the heart of progress.
Through its name, the Saint-Romain Sous Roche already tells us about its limestone soil. Its 60-year-old plots, which extend over 3 hectares, are rooted in the marl of Saint-Romain. This specific cradle, nestled at 300m on the hillside facing the village, benefits from its height as well as the warm currents that caress the valley. This location gives Saint-Romain Sous Roche a character of fresh and high-altitude Pinot with generous aromas of red fruits while its old vines give it depth and a beautiful length in the mouth. The Sous Roche can be enjoyed young. With four or five more years, it will express itself in a spicier way and let out some notes of ripe fruit.
