Description
Saint-Amour Rouge Côte de Besset "Zen 2021" | Wine from Domaine Bret Brothers
The Domaine Bret Brothers is the micro-negotiant founded by the owners of Domaine La Soufrandière in 2001. Their mission is to produce exceptional organic wines from small plots of old vines, cultivated with passion. The purchase of grapes on the vine, all certified organic or in conversion, manual harvesting, fermentation with indigenous yeasts, and aging in old barrels are all elements that demonstrate their commitment to quality. These meticulous steps are carried out with the same attention as for their own vines.
The Saint-Amour Rouge Côte de Besset Zen 2021 is an organic wine from plots located on a North-East slope of the Saint-Amour terroir, characterized by blue sandstone soils. This terroir gives rise to powerful wines, but the gentle vinification chosen by the Bret Brothers allows for preserving great finesse. The 8-day maceration with whole clusters, followed by fermentation and aging in old barrels, gives this 2021 vintage a remarkable aromatic explosion. You will find notes of mint, licorice, blackcurrant, and fresh pepper, with a gourmet palate, fine and silky tannins, and an impressive length on the palate.
The nose is fresh and powerful, with aromas of mint, licorice, and blackcurrant, accompanied by slight spicy touches like fresh pepper. On the palate, the wine is generous with silky tannins and perfect balance. The finish is long, highlighting a beautiful minerality.
This Saint-Amour Rouge pairs perfectly with grilled red meats, game, or a platter of aged cheeses. It can also be enjoyed with saucy dishes or mushroom-based recipes to enhance its complex aromas.
