Description
Chassagne-Montrachet Blanc 2022 | Wine from Domaine Jean-Marc Pillot
Located in the heart of Chassagne-Montrachet, in Burgundy, the Domaine Jean-Marc Pillot is a must for great wine enthusiasts. Since taking over from his father in 1991, Jean-Marc Pillot has brought a fresh breath to the family estate by increasing the vineyard area, developing bottling, and expanding distribution.
Antonin is now taking care of the domain with the help and the advices of Jean-Marc; The white wines are more and more pure and the reds have gained in term of precision.
They both have a very meticulous approach to aging, Antonin has reduced the use of new oak over past years and white wines have a delicate and perfectly integrated oakiness. His white wines are distinguished by a generous aroma and great precision, while his reds are appreciated for their indulgence and depth.
The Chassagne-Montrachet Blanc 1er Cru 2022 is made from 100% Chardonnay, grown on privileged plots of the appellation. With an alcohol content of 13%, this cuvée reflects the unique identity of the Chassagne-Montrachet terroir, combining freshness, richness, and elegance.
Aging on fine lees in carefully selected barrels adds additional complexity, while respecting the natural balance of the wine.
The Chassagne-Montrachet Blanc 1er Cru 2022 boasts a bright golden robe, reflecting the perfect maturity of the grapes.
On the nose, this wine reveals a generous aromatic palette, with notes of white fruits, such as pear and apple, accompanied by subtle hints of white flowers and a slight touch of vanilla, inherited from barrel aging.
On the palate, the attack is ample and elegant, supported by a beautiful freshness and fine minerality. The flavors of ripe fruits blend harmoniously with toasted and buttery nuances. The finish is long, balanced, and persistent, offering remarkable complexity that invites contemplative tasting.
For a cheese pairing, opt for aged hard cheeses like an old Comté or an alpine Beaufort. This white wine will also pair perfectly with shellfish, such as roasted lobster or pan-seared scallops.
Thanks to its structure and complexity, this wine can be enjoyed now to appreciate its freshness, but it will reach its peak after 5 to 10 years of cellaring under optimal conditions.
