Description

Vosne-Romanée Red 1er Cru "Les Suchots" | Wine from Domaine Jean-Marc Pillot

The Domaine Jean-Marc Pillot, renowned for its expertise in Burgundy, and particularly in the Chassagne-Montrachet appellation, purchases a piece of Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru "Les Suchots" each year. This exceptional climate is located between the iconic vineyards of Échezeaux to the north, and those of Richebourg and Romanée-Saint-Vivant to the south. This unique terroir, known for producing some of the best Pinot Noir in the world, is enhanced by the meticulous work of Jean-Marc, who fully expresses its potential.

Antonin is now taking care of the domain with the help and the advices of Jean-Marc; The white wines are more and more pure and the reds have gained in term of precision.

The Vosne-Romanée Red 1er Cru "Les Suchots" is a rare and exceptional cuvée, Jean-Marc produces just one barrel per vintage, giving it particular care.

This Pinot Noir is cultivated under ideal conditions, on clay-limestone soils, and benefits from a perfect microclimate for grape ripening. Traditional vinification and aging in new barrels highlight the richness and depth of this wine.

The deep garnet red color of the Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru "Les Suchots" reflects the concentration and maturity of the grapes.

The nose reveals complex aromas of ripe red fruits, such as cherry and raspberry, accompanied by notes of sweet spices, undergrowth, and a hint of floral.

On the palate, this wine impresses with its massive structure and exceptional depth. The flavors of red fruits intertwine with subtle touches of vanilla, white pepper, and black truffle, supported by silky tannins and vibrant acidity. The finish, long and persistent, leaves an elegant and refined imprint.

This exceptional wine calls for sophisticated and flavorful dishes. It pairs perfectly with roasted pigeon accompanied by celery purée and a reduced jus, a veal chop with chanterelles, whose finesse enhances the richness of the wine, or a beef fillet Rossini, where the intense flavors harmonize wonderfully with the complex notes of Pinot Noir.

For a vegetarian pairing, serve it with a black truffle risotto or a caramelized onion tart tatin. Finally, a platter of aged cheeses, with a truffle Brillat-Savarin or an Époisses, will accentuate the depth and complexity of the wine.

Thanks to its imposing structure and aromatic depth, this wine deserves a long stay in the cellar. It will reach its peak in 10 to 15 years, or even more, under optimal storage conditions.
