Description
- This book first explains the functioning of a living soil: its composition, its functions, and its different states, including the physical states (texture, structure, hydric functioning), chemical states (fertility and fertilization, pH), and biological states (living organisms in the soil). This information is based on practical tools that can be used to reason about all agricultural practices. - It then addresses: the main external conditions for the development and growth of plants: climate, temperature, light, water (and therefore irrigation), and wind / the nutritional needs of crops and fertilization management / a synthesis exercise allowing manipulation of all these concepts to better understand them. The elements of reasoning on the scale of cropping systems to promote their agro-ecological transition: the concept of cropping itinerary / examples of the main objectives of current cropping systems. Additional information on two operational issues at the heart of agronomic reflections: the introduction of cover crops in cropping systems / soil erosion control.
