Description

The deep crisis that has been shaking the Bordeaux vineyards for over ten years and putting many operations at risk has been the subject of numerous analyses. However, not everything seems to have been said to the extent that these analyses have mainly been carried out by economists who, quite logically, have focused on the market. Therefore, the proposed solutions are primarily economic proposals that rarely take into account social issues and never territorial ones. Taking a deliberately opposing stance, this "geographical essay on the Bordeaux crisis" focuses on the future of terroirs, these territories of quality wine production built over the long term by the producer organizations that created them and continue to sustain them. After providing a perspective on their origins, the book addresses the threats facing these terroirs, and then the authors suggest avenues for thought towards a reterritorialization of controlled designation of origin. Indeed, they believe this is the only way to maintain the dense fabric of this peasant agriculture that has been the strength of the terroirs in the past and seems capable of ensuring their sustainable development.
