Description

At a time when the controversy over climate change is becoming more and more intense, it was important to provide the wine world with a study on the influence of the French climate on a culture as complex as vineyards. Indeed, although having a temperate climate, France offers a wide diversity of climatic conditions where vineyards can be cultivated from Alsace to Corsica, or from Vendée to Jura and the Alps. This book presents all the major French vineyards based on a climatic framework, leading to an original division into six major wine regions. Climate change and its prospects are thus discussed in the different vineyards. The author presents both the results of a field survey in the wine industry and the findings of researchers (meteorologists, climatologists, oenologists, Inra, Chambers of Agriculture). This book is illustrated with numerous maps, tables, climatic diagrams where data from nearly a century is analyzed. It also provides an abundant bibliography and a glossary of wine and climate terminology on the subject.
