The 2021 Vosne-Romanée Premier Cru Red "Les Malconsorts" from Domaine Clos Frantin de la maison Albert Bichot is an exceptional Burgundy wine. Made from the Pinot Noir grape variety, it comes from limestone soils of Rendzine, with a vineyard area of 1.76 ha and an average age of the vines of 35-40 years. This Premier Cru is located close to renowned plots such as Romanée-Conti and Richebourg, testifying to its privileged location. The name "Les Malconsorts" evokes past quarrels over the ownership of this land, located near La Tâche, in a region renowned for its generous sunshine. Vinification includes manual harvesting, selective sorting of the grapes, and fermentation maceration in temperature-controlled wooden vats for 18 to 21 days, followed by ageing in oak barrels for 16 to 17 months, 35 to 40% of which are new. On tasting, this wine reveals a fine and complex bouquet, with notes of red and black fruits (cherry, raspberry, blackcurrant), a delicate woodiness and subtle hints of spices. On the palate, its smooth and full texture is supported by elegant tannins, offering a remarkable length in the mouth. It is recommended to serve it at 16-17°C and it can be stored for 7-10 years or even longer. This elegant red wine pairs perfectly with finely cooked meats such as beef, lamb, pork, game or duck, as well as medium-bodied cheeses. It is particularly ideal with a Rossini beef tournedos.
