Description
Chassagne Montrachet "Vielles Vignes" 2021 from Domaine Joseph Colin
Joseph Colin, son of the renowned vigneron Marc Colin, reflects the innovative spirit of his own estate. With 6.5 hectares, part of which is inherited from his family heritage, Joseph produces 19 exceptional cuvées in Saint-Aubin, Chassagne-Montrachet and Puligny-Montrachet. Favouring non-certified organic viticulture, with biodynamic influences such as lunar observation, he adopts a minimally interventionist winemaking, avoiding sulphur until bottling. Its crystalline and energetic wines express the Burgundian terroir with depth, underlining its commitment to artisanal quality. The estate, producing around 45,000 bottles per year, embodies the freedom of vigneron and reveals the authenticity of the Burgundian terroir with each vintage.
Joseph Colin's 2021 Chassagne-Montrachet "Vieilles Vignes" has an elegant divergence within the renowned appellation, usually dedicated to white wines. Emanating from old Pinot Noir vines, this wine has a ruby red colour with purplish sheens in its youth. The tasting reveals a deliciously complex vintage with aromas of red and black fruits, accompanied by floral notes such as violets. Over time, nuances of undergrowth and mushrooms intertwine, adding extra depth to the taste experience. Joseph Colin thus demonstrates his talent in the creation of a subtle and harmonious red wine, offering a unique interpretation of the Chassagne-Montrachet appellation.
