Aloxe-Corton 1er Cru "Les Valozières" 2022 - Domaine Pierre-Olivier Garcia
Domaine Pierre-Olivier Garcia, established in Nuits-Saint-Georges in 2016, embodies innovation in the winemaking tradition. Under the direction of Pierre-Olivier since 2020, the vines are grown organically with a careful selection of grapes. The vinification, without sulphur, uses a unique "berry by berry" method, preserving the integrity of the fruit. The result is brilliant, complex wines that make for an unforgettable experience.
This 2022 Aloxe-Corton 1er Cru "Les Valozières" from Pierre-Olivier Garcia is the new jewel in its confidential range, where each cuvée is produced in limited quantities, with a maximum of 1200 bottles per cuvée.
Pierre-Olivier Garcia reiterates here the use of a singular technique called "berry by bay". This method involves a careful harvest followed by a drastic sorting of the grapes, consisting of cutting the stalk (the vegetal part of the bunch) with scissors, thus preserving intact the pedicel (the stem in direct contact with the grape berry). Pierre-Olivier applies this method without compromise to all of his cuvées over a third of the harvest, destemming another third and leaving the stalks to the last third.
The result is an extremely promising wine, where the berry-by-berry technique seems to harmonize perfectly with the exceptional terroir located at the foot of the Corton Grand Cru Bressandes. We find all the characteristic depth of Aloxe wines (notes of black fruits, structured tannins), sublimated by the expert vinification of Pierre-Olivier, which brings to the whole a velvety texture, an exquisite finesse and a delicate mouthfeel. A remarkably accomplished wine.
