Description
Red WineMoulin-à-Vent 2019 Domaine Louis Boillot
Louis comes from a long line of winemakers historically established in Volnay. Initially working with his father and brother at Domaine Lucien Boillot, Louis took off in 2003 to offer his own wines, vinified in Chambolle-Musigny alongside his wife Ghislaine Barthod.
In 2013, the estate acquired vines in Beaujolais in the Moulin-à-Vent appellation. This small appellation (640 hectares) straddles two villages, between Burgundy and the Rhône.
Since 2019, his son Clément has gradually taken up the torch, with him the wines evolve towards a great purity of fruit and better integrated tannins offering a earlier drinkability where the terroir expresses itself freely. The wines are aged in oak barrels for between 15 and 18 months and are bottled without clarification or filtration.
This 2019 Moulin-à-Vent is adorned with a beautiful deep ruby colour and offers a nose of ripe red fruits, liquorice and faded rose, its palate is full-bodied and complex. Ideal with duck breast, grilled meat or charcuterie platter
