Description

Saint-Romain Red 2017 | Wine from Domaine Albert Bichot

Founded over 180 years ago, the Maison Albert Bichot is one of the most prestigious Burgundy wine trading houses. Located in Beaune, this family-run house owns more than 250 hectares of vineyards, spread over 14 estates and 5 iconic domains. The house produces more than 400 different wines, exported to over 50 countries worldwide. With expertise passed down through several generations, Albert Bichot embodies the authenticity, tradition, and excellence of Burgundy wines.

The Saint-Romain Red 2017 is made exclusively from the Pinot Noir grape, grown on the steep limestone slopes of the Saint-Romain appellation, located in the Côte de Beaune. Thanks to precise and respectful viticulture, the grapes are harvested at full maturity and then carefully vinified to preserve the purity of the fruit and the finesse of the terroir.

The deep ruby color, with black cherry reflections, evokes the elegance and concentration of the vintage. On the nose, the bouquet is expressive and delicate, marked by notes of redcurrant, raspberry, and ripe cherry. As it evolves, more complex aromas of stewed black fruits, sweet spices, and smoky nuances appear. On the palate, the wine charms with its silky structure, fine and delicate tannins, and its persistent and elegant finish, leaving a slightly spicy and mineral imprint.

The Saint-Romain Red 2017 is a versatile wine that pairs harmoniously with a grilled rib-eye steak or a roasted duck breast, offering a beautiful complement between the richness of the meat and the finesse of the wine. It also pairs wonderfully with poultry in sauce, such as a roasted guinea fowl with wild mushrooms, where its subtle aromas enhance the flavors of the dish. As for cheese, it delicately matches with a creamy Époisses or an aged Comté, bringing a lovely roundness to the palate. Finally, vegetarian cuisine enthusiasts will appreciate its balance with a mushroom risotto, where its fruity and slightly smoky notes enhance every bite.

The grapes are carefully hand-picked and sorted to ensure optimal quality. Fermentation is carried out traditionally, followed by aging in French oak barrels for about 12 to 18 months. This method allows the wine to develop a beautiful structure while preserving the freshness of the fruit and adding a subtly woody touch.
