Description
Since the first edition of this book in 2008, over 10,000 new contributions to the knowledge of mycorrhizae have been published. This is why this new expanded and updated edition was deemed necessary. Mycorrhizae are formed by microscopic fungi that work wonders in horticulture by symbiotically interacting with plant roots. The fungi help plants absorb nutrients from the soil and adapt to their environment. In return, plants provide the fungi with the energy they are unable to derive from the sun. In recent years, a multitude of studies have clearly demonstrated the scientific and practical value of these symbioses for all plant species worldwide. However, despite these repeated and irrefutable evidence, many practitioners in horticulture, agriculture, forestry, and the environment still do not fully grasp the concrete importance of this phenomenon. It is in this spirit that the authors have prepared this new edition, aiming to both explain the biology of mycorrhizae in its most fascinating aspects and show how to benefit from it in various aspects of plant cultivation and protection, while ensuring the maintenance of natural balances.
