Description

The Jumbo Shrimp Guide to International Grape Varieties in Italy was born from a collaboration between three passionate authors, eager to highlight the international grape varieties in Italy. While the current trend increasingly focuses on rare local varieties, many world-renowned grape varieties and wines are often overlooked in new publications about Italian wines. It is true that Italy has more than 500 registered indigenous grape varieties, but it is equally true that in many Italian regions, some of the best wines are produced from international grape varieties.

The authors wanted to explore this subject in a dedicated book, delving not only into the wines created from these grape varieties but also into their history in Italy, their rise in popularity, and their current status. The book naturally begins with a discussion about what makes a grape variety considered "international."

Moreover, the team deemed it essential to include sections explaining how wines produced from international grape varieties in Italy stand out from those produced elsewhere. This guide has been designed to be enjoyed by both casual consumers and wine students and experienced tasters.

All of this is presented in the typical Jumbo Shrimp guide style - key information laid out in a playful and accessible manner, which does not need to be read chronologically but can be browsed at the reader's leisure.
