VDF Le Puy Rouge "Emilien" 2020 | Wine from Château Le Puy
The Château Le Puy, owned by the Amoreau family since 1610, is located on the prestigious clay-limestone plateau between Saint-Émilion and Pomerol. Spanning about fifty hectares, this historic vineyard has been entirely cultivated using organic and biodynamic agriculture since 1990. Thanks to meticulous and respectful work, the estate produces emblematic wines that embody the elegance and finesse of their terroir.
The VDF Le Puy Rouge "Émilien" 2020 is an iconic cuvée, revealing all the richness of its terroir and the expertise of the estate. Mainly blended from Merlot, with touches of Cabernet Sauvignon and Carmenère, this wine offers a perfect harmony between freshness, indulgence, and complexity. With whole cluster vinification and 24 months of aging in foudres and barrels, it maintains an elegant structure and a refined aromatic profile.
The VDF Le Puy Rouge "Émilien" 2020 captivates from the first glance with its deep and bright color. On the nose, it exudes enchanting aromas of ripe red fruits, enhanced by subtle floral notes and a hint of spice. On the palate, the attack is silky, giving way to a generous and balanced structure. The finish, long and persistent, reveals fine and elegant tannins, promising beautiful evolution in the cellar.
This wine pairs wonderfully with refined and flavorful dishes. A veal chop with chanterelles reveals the full aromatic complexity of the wine, while a rack of lamb accompanied by a gratin dauphinois enhances its velvety texture. It can also be enjoyed with elaborate vegetarian dishes, such as a mushroom risotto. Serve it at a temperature of 16°C to fully appreciate its flavors.
