Description
Bourgogne Côte-Chalonnaise red "La Digoine" 2022 | Wine from Domaine de Villaine
The Domaine de Villaine, nestled in Bouzeron at the heart of the Côte Chalonnaise, continues a rich and ancient winemaking tradition shaped since the Middle Ages by the monks of Cluny. This estate, situated between Santenay and Mercurey, benefits from an exceptional terroir. Mainly specializing in the Aligoté grape variety, the estate's vines thrive on hillsides between 270 and 350 meters in altitude, with limestone soils and a warm microclimate. This unique geography allows for ideal grape ripening, giving Villaine wines a remarkable identity, a reflection of environmentally respectful viticulture.
The Bourgogne Côte-Chalonnaise red "La Digoine" 2022 comes from vines at the foot of the hillside benefiting from deep and rich soil, perfect for expressing the finesse of Pinot Noir. In its youth, this wine captivates with its vibrant aromas of red berries, combined with a balanced structure where roundness and firmness meet with elegance. At maturity, this wine reveals complex and deep notes, characteristic of great Burgundies, with an exceptional aging potential of 12 to 15 years.
Visually, the robe is an intense red, testifying to the richness of this wine. The nose reveals bold aromas of red berries, cherry, and raspberry, accompanied by subtle notes of undergrowth. On the palate, La Digoine offers a silky texture, with fine and well-integrated tannins and a hint of salinity that pleasantly extends the tasting. Its length and finesse make it a balanced wine, ideal for lovers of well-structured Pinot Noir.
When young, this wine is perfect for pairing with grilled or roasted red meats, as well as with aged cheeses like Comté. At maturity, serve it with a game platter or sauced dishes to reveal all its subtle notes. Recommended serving temperature: 16°C for a young wine, 18°C for a mature wine.
