Wine merchants in bulk in Paris in the 17th century

At the end of the 16th century, the royal authority led to the creation of a body intended to regulate the large and diverse community of Parisian wine merchants. However, the egalitarian rules of the institution turned out to be artificial. In addition to this aspect of institutional history, this research conducted mainly from handwritten texts also concerns port trade, economic policing, merchant professions, taxation, guilds, housing, neighborhoods, parishes, and municipal responsibilities in 17th century Paris.
