Bâtards-Montrachet Grand Cru blanc 2021 Wine from Domaine de la Vougeraie

Discover Domaine de la Vougeraie's legendary white Grand Cru, an iconic cuvée whose name tells a fascinating story. According to legend, this wine takes its name from the division of the land by the Lord of Montrachet between his two sons, one honoured for his bravery in battle during the Crusades, and the other, whose name is said to have been given to the Bâtard-Montrachet cru, located just below. This exceptional wine is made from the noble Chardonnay grape variety, grown with care on a thick limestone brown soil and clay. With a total surface area of 0.3823 hectares and a planting density of 10,000 vines per hectare, each vigneron dedicates special attention to each vine. Since 2012, our estate has been practicing organic farming certified by ECOCERT,® and since 2015, biodynamic farming. The work in the vineyard is meticulous, ranging from ploughing with horses to ridging the vines in winter. We use special biodynamic preparations, such as nettle and rhubarb teas, horsetail and silica decoctions, and tansy, willow and yarrow treatments. Each step, from winter preparation to spring escape, is executed with the greatest care to offer a wine of incomparable quality, expressing all the richness of its terroir and the history of its origins.
