Description
Daniel Percheron enjoys immersing himself in the whirlwind of gestures, glances, and comebacks. He dispenses with rituals, well-oiled routines, but also embraces the unexpected, the unexpected word, the fatal clumsiness. Most of these notes were written on the spot, with tenderness or irony. Nostalgia is also present, here and there, with a few memories of cafes of yesteryear. It is above all a chronicle of the bar counter, the bar counter of espressos, balloons and half-pints, toast and sandwiches. The bar counter: that little hub from which everything starts and where everything returns. In love with lightness and fascinated by detail, the author has sought to capture the texture of everyday life. A coffee bean, in this case. Between barroom banter and things seen and heard, Notes from the Bar follows in the footsteps of the Cabinet of Medical Curiosities. Other curiosities are presented, watered down and accompanied by a few drawings.
