Description

Born from the wanderings of the Adour River and its capricious mouths of Capbreton and Vieux-Boucau, the sandy vineyard is one of the most peculiar in France. The history of sand wine, tumultuous and adventurous, has long been built on the collective memory that seemed to have turned it into a myth, especially since its production and know-how had disappeared. However, in trying to reconstruct its history, we discover a past with medieval roots that shaped the economy and landscapes of the southern Landes coast. All this in an extraordinary geographical context where the winemaker constantly battled against the sands and dunes. Once again, does history not surpass legend? Born in Dax in 1959, Jean-Jacques Taillentou is a history and geography teacher. President of the Mémoire en Marensin Association and president of the Société de Borda, he is the author of numerous articles and works on Marensin and the history of the Landes coast.
