Description
Every two years since 1998, Bordeaux Fête le Vin, the Bordeaux' wine festival, illuminates the Garonne riverbanks. This book tells the story behind a festival that illustrates a revival. It reflects the revival of a city once known as the "Sleeping Beauty", a city that has regained its liking for popular festive events. It marks the revival of a magical setting, with the River Garonne, the Bordeaux riverbank and the famous 18th-century buildings that were central to the Unesco World Heritage listing. Last but definitely not least, it echoes the revival of the wine sector which, until then, tended to be entrenched in its vineyards and cellars. Thanks to this regular event in Port de la Lune, the wine business has regained its rightful position in the city, ready to expand still further with the opening of the Wine Centre (Cité du Vin).
