Description
Winemaker from father to son, a family story on the arid and wild lands of the Douro.
1703, Liverpool. Robert Handsome and Thomas Woodmass, two English merchants, are preparing to set sail for Portugal. Robert plans to develop his trade business by exploring the vineyards in the Douro Valley. Unfortunately, the region is difficult to tame and the English are not always welcome. Robert will lose his life on these arid lands before he could realize his winemaking dream. Marked by this tragedy, his son Walter has rebuilt his life away from the sun. But fate is curious, and in 1708, the young winemaker turned adult returns to Portugal. Will he have better luck in this risky endeavor than his late father? Three generations of winemakers will succeed each other to form this well-documented historical and family saga.
