Description

Insurrection wine. On March 4, 1976 in Montredon, a demonstration by winemakers escalates. Both the riot police and the protesters are armed. For twenty minutes, shots are fired and the confrontation turns into a real battlefield. The result: two dead, one on each side, and a vote for a "temporary demobilization." The memory of this explosion of violence deeply marks the memories of the population. Five years later, the wound is less deep, but the problems are still the same for the winemakers in the region. To express their discontent, fifty members of the CVRAV (Regional Committee for Viticultural Action) seize an Italian ship off the coast of Sète: the Ampelos. This peacefully conducted action is the culmination of numerous efforts to denounce the smuggling of counterfeit wine from Italy. For too long, the sale of counterfeit wine has been reducing the income of honest French and Italian winemakers. A strange and fortunate coincidence, the activists happen to board a boat where they discover a laboratory producing large quantities of illegal wine. A stroke of luck they will use to publicize their struggle and their message. The true story of a social and viticultural struggle fought with raised fists to break free from a deadly anonymity.
