City and wine in France and Europe

This work presents, based on French and European territories, at different times, a series of case studies revolving around three main themes: the relationship between the city and its wine-producing region, the role of wine trade, and finally, the importance of control, norms, and cultural identities. Through time and space, discover an almost complete panorama of various examples to understand the relationship between urban areas and their wine-producing hinterlands. Beyond immediate economic exchanges and wine exportation via maritime routes, symbolized by the port of Bordeaux, explore the complexity and dynamics of the links between the city and wine in France, as well as in Europe over the long term.
