Description

In the history of all civilizations, the relationship between women and wine is based on a combination of rules and taboos. Traditional prejudices, superstitions, and stereotypes exclude women from the wine industry and attribute a dishonorable image to female consumers. The world of wine has long expressed a gender differentiation. Studies conducted in nine European and non-European countries by the co-authors of this book reveal that women have been able to accompany the evolution of mentalities to free themselves from the weight of the past, traditional social models, and establish themselves in the wine world while offering a different approach to wine. In all cultures, women drink wine in a relaxed manner, regardless of their professions - winemaker, cellar master, oenologist, sommelier, salesperson, communicator - they have gained legitimacy and recognition by redoubling efforts to prove that they belong. With professionalism, savoir-faire, and claimed difference, they contribute to innovating and energizing the wine world and changing the image of women. From Europe to the Americas, through China, wine is now conjugated in the feminine form.
