This might be a legend, but it is the very real story of a regulatory assassination attempt, the banning of a handful of downgraded grape varieties, forbidden wines, accused of all evils, deemed guilty of having bad taste, and incriminated for driving people insane.
Their crime? Resisting. Resisting diseases, being naturally adapted to climate changes, and freeing themselves from pesticides and other products that flood modern viticulture. Defying extremely hostile legislation and despite the very bad reputation of these grape varieties, rebellious farmers, convinced of their true values, have continued to cultivate the forbidden. Resistant grape varieties have not said their last word.
The film offers an oenological journey through France, Italy, Austria, Romania, and the United States to better understand the history and stakes of resistant grape varieties.
