Description

What is obvious is that wine is made from grapes and exclusively grapes! This is the postulate defended by all the winemakers that Philippe Gasnier visited during these three documentaries. "At the Source of Wine" invites us to follow, under the watchful eye of Alice Feiring, an exchange of knowledge between French winemakers from the Loire Valley and their Georgian colleagues. "The Biodynamic Lesson" takes us to the Loire and Alsace alongside those who practice it. Finally, wine takes on a feminine touch in "Naturally Winemakers," which reveals the unique journeys of female winemakers from the Loire, Rhône, Alsace, Italy, and Georgia. PHILIPPE GASNIER (Author Director) Philippe Gasnier was born in 1955 on the banks of the Loire in France. The unique light of the landscapes of Anjou could alone justify his inclination towards painting! He started painting at a very young age, which logically led him to study at the Fine Arts School of Bourges. However, this was just a step in his journey, as the University of Vincennes met his expectations of multidisciplinarity: a varied education that included, in addition to fine arts, music, cinema, philosophy, and even geography. He put his knowledge into practice in the 1980s in Orléans, where he settled. Through music in the experimental ensemble Un Département - through his involvement in collective initiatives (Orléans Film Fabrique since 1979) and through the creation and management of the alternative venue Oulan Bator. Performances, concerts, and various cultural events followed one after the other during a decade. It was during the 1990s that his work took on a "creative documentary" form. First by making films with/about artists, visual artists, musicians, or architects, and then by starting a series of trips to film World music (Ethiopia, Cuba, Tanzania, Cambodia...). In parallel, Philippe Gasnier also works as a winemaker in Loiret. SPECIFICATIONS Duration .............................. 3 x 52 minutes Director .................................
