Description
The most active way to discover Swiss wines
What better way to understand a wine than to walk in the terroir from which it comes? From the arid Valais hillsides to the sweetness of the lake regions, the country offers an extraordinary diversity of landscapes and grape varieties that call for exploration.
To meet her favourite winemakers and their products, oenologist, journalist and Swiss by adoption Ellen Wallace travelled the country's roads and trails. It has selected 50 itineraries spread across all the wine regions of Switzerland that end, without exception, with a glass in hand.
Each route presents information about the hike, a detailed description of the route including tourist information and a presentation of the winery and the wine chosen.
• Wines chosen by a Swiss wine specialist
• A range of winegrowers rewarded with international awards
• A wide variety of grape varieties
• 50 hikes for all seasons and all levels
Ellen Wallace cultivates two passions: wine and travel on foot or by bike. Essayist, writer, news journalist and editor, she is also a judge for international wine competitions and makes her expertise available to specialized magazines in the field. She lives in Valais, overlooking the mountains – and the vineyards.
