Vegetable charcoal is not a fertilizer. It is mainly a carrier for the diffusion of nutrients and a habitat for microorganisms. To quickly and effectively harness its amendment capacity, vegetable charcoal must first be enriched and biologically activated. In addition to mixing vegetable charcoal with compost, there are many other methods for activation and the production of substrates similar to Terra Preta.
