A war in lace, 1733. Europe is torn apart by the war of succession for the throne of Poland. François, a young officer in the French army and son of a prominent wine merchant, falls in love with a beautiful Austrian woman. Just one year later, he will face his own people during the siege of Philippsburg... The battles are intense and sometimes violent. But as night falls, the soldiers decide to call a truce to gather around delicious bottles: sparkling wine for the French against sweet wine for the Austrians. This moment of peace foreshadows the beginnings of a future "war": that of Champagne against Tokay.
