This paraphrase of the famous This is Not a Pipe by Magritte (1928) raises the question of the relationship between an object - in this case, a bottle - its status, and its representation. The container seen by the mudac and the one from the MVVV collection seem to be of different natures. However, both are the result of legitimate cultural procedures, which ensure them a special status as collection items. Their forms also communicate on other levels: materials (qualities of glass, wood), practical aspect (utility, obsolescence, diversion), usage (traces, dust, brilliance). The book highlights around sixty pieces gathered by the two institutions. Collective, mudac - Museum of Contemporary Design and Applied Arts - and MVVV - Valais Museum of Vine and Wine. Mélanie Hugon-Duc is an anthropologist and researcher, collaborator of MVVV, curator of several exhibitions. Bettina Tschumi, curator at mudac, in charge of the glass art collection, organizes several exhibitions per year. She is also a teacher, conference guide, and regularly collaborates on international publications.
