Description
At 24 years old, Émile Coddens is the assistant cellar master at one of the largest estates in the Loire Valley, where he has climbed the ranks by performing all tasks related to making wine. Nothing predisposed him to become a winemaker except for his affection for his grandfather, a generous and jovial man who loved bringing his loved ones together around a meal and a good bottle.
Like him, Émile loves to share his passions. During the lockdown, he opened a TikTok account (le.vigneron) to teach the secrets of his profession and wine, which is now followed by more than 400,000 subscribers.
In this first book, enriched by questions and comments from internet users, he talks about his journey and proves that wine is not just a luxury product reserved for professionals, the wealthiest, or only the "enlightened" enthusiasts.
Émile simplifies oenology, makes it fun, and removes our complexes. He explains how to work the vineyard, "make quality wine" and provides a multitude of personal tips: reading a label, choosing a wine, opening and serving it, recognizing its aromas and faults, decanting or aerating it, forbidden grape varieties, the difference between a grower and a merchant.
You will even learn why winemakers wear sleeveless down jackets. A playful and uninhibited guide, aimed at all generations, which demonstrates with joy that wine is above all "an exchange, a moment, a pleasure, and above all, an emotion." Wine is meant to be shared!
"Never drink alone, ever. Only drink with those you love" (Jean-Claude Pirotte).
