Riesling Blanc "Semicolon" 2018 | Wine from Domaine Nikolaihof
The Domaine Nikolaihof, located in the Wachau region of Austria, is renowned for its visionary and nature-respecting approach. Led by Katharina Salzgeber and Nikolaus Saahs, this family estate stands out for its production of biodynamic and natural wines, respecting traditions while exploring new winemaking methods. The Riesling "Semicolon" reflects their quest for innovation and their ability to push the boundaries of classic viticulture.
The Riesling Blanc "Semicolon" 2018 is an atypical orange wine, made from 70% must and 30% pomace. Aged for 10 months in used oak barrels, this wine underwent no clarification, stabilization, or filtration. No sulfur was added, enhancing its natural and authentic character. This process gives the wine a unique aromatic depth and a rich texture.
The deep golden yellow color reflects the wine's richness. On the nose, there are aromas of dried meadow herbs, apple skin, and yeast, evolving towards fruity notes of quince and delicate floral touches of honeysuckle and chamomile after airing. On the palate, this wine is precise, with a dry structure and a spicy note that makes it sophisticated and refreshing.
The Riesling Blanc "Semicolon" 2018 pairs perfectly with a mushroom quiche and arugula pesto, or crostini topped with celery remoulade and salmon. For more complex dishes, it ideally accompanies lamb-stuffed bread dumplings, grilled vegetables, or herb-rich recipes. Serve it at a temperature of 12°C to reveal its full freshness.
