Description
Meursault Blanc 1er Cru "Les Genevrières" 2022 | Wine from Domaine Michelot
The Domaine Michelot, located in Meursault in Burgundy, is a family-run estate of 19 hectares passed down through six generations. Driven by Bernard Michelot in the 1960s, the estate is distinguished by environmentally friendly sustainable agriculture. The plots are carefully cultivated to preserve the unique character of the terroirs without certification, allowing for total freedom in the winemaking process.
The Meursault Blanc 1er Cru "Les Genevrières" 2022 is a prestigious cuvée revealing the full richness of this iconic terroir. This Chardonnay, aged in barrels (25 to 30% new oak) for 12 months, offers a perfect balance between power, finesse, and freshness.
This 1er Cru reveals a sparkling pale gold color and a subtle nose mixing white flower aromas, white-fleshed fruits, and a spicy touch. On the palate, its silky texture and complex structure are enhanced by a vibrant minerality and a beautiful acidity, offering a lingering finish.
For an unforgettable gastronomic experience, this wine pairs perfectly with pan-seared foie gras or a fine terrine, roasted poultry such as a capon or guinea fowl with morels, as well as hard cheeses like aged Comté or Beaufort. It is ideally enjoyed at a serving temperature between 12 and 14 °C.
The vines of the "Les Genevrières" plot benefit from a south-southeast exposure, offering optimal sunlight. The clay-limestone soil, combined with a subsoil rich in rocky debris, imparts complexity and minerality to the wine. The vines, aged between 20 and 55 years, produce grapes of exceptional quality thanks to sustainable farming and manual harvesting.
The grapes, hand-harvested, are gently pressed before meticulous settling. The alcoholic and malolactic fermentations take place in barrels, with aging of about 12 months on fine lees, ensuring remarkable aromatic complexity.
