Description
Rully Blanc 1er Cru "Montpalais" 2020 | Wine from Domaine de Villaine
Located in Bouzeron, south of Beaune, the Domaine de Villaine is a key reference in the Côte Chalonnaise. Acquired in 1971 by Pamela and Aubert de Villaine, the estate applies the same rigorous methods as those of the Domaine de la Romanée-Conti. The vines are cultivated using biodynamic methods, certified organic, and the grapes are harvested and sorted manually. Today, Pierre de Benoist, their nephew, passionately continues this quest for excellence, revealing the authenticity of the terroir through each cuvée.
The Rully Blanc 1er Cru "Montpalais" 2020 is composed of 90% classic Chardonnay and 10% muscat Chardonnay, giving it a slightly exotic aromatic touch. The vines, pampered throughout the year, produce grapes of exceptional quality, carefully harvested and naturally vinified. The aging process takes place in wood with 20% new barrels, providing the wine with a subtly wooded structure and a beautiful aromatic depth.
The wine's bright golden color already hints at its richness and finesse. On the nose, the bouquet is expressive and fruity, marked by delicate exotic notes, crisp white fruits, and a slight floral hint. On the palate, the balance is precise, with a lively and fruity attack, followed by a lovely creamy texture. The subtle bitterness, resulting from the wood aging, brings a delicate tannic tension, while the invigorating acidity prolongs the finish with elegance.
The Rully Blanc 1er Cru "Montpalais" 2020 pairs perfectly with delicate and balanced dishes. It will elegantly accompany a salmon fillet with lemon sauce, herb-roasted poultry, or even a sautéed dish of crunchy green vegetables. It also goes well with fine cheeses, such as a matured Comté or a creamy Morbier.
The grapes are carefully hand-harvested and sorted to keep only the highest quality berries. After a natural vinification, the wine is aged for several months in oak barrels, with 20% new wood, adding a subtle woody touch without overpowering the fruity aromas. This method preserves the purity of the fruit while developing an elegant and harmonious structure.
