Based in Quintaine, a hamlet located between Viré and Clessé, Domaine de la Bongran is a unique estate in the Mâconnais wine landscape, the Thévenet family having highlighted the wines (Chardonnay) with residual sugars in Burgundy. Jean Thévenet has been at the head of the Domaine since 1972 and his son Gautier joined in 1996.
Certified organic since 2012, father and son are committed to harvesting the Chardonnay bunches at optimal ripeness, in order to deliver rich, fleshy wines with an incredible aromatic concentration. All this while preserving balance and acidity, the white marl soil of the Domaine's vines maintaining a high level of acids even at high maturity. Another originality is that the wines are aged for a long time (at least 2 years) in stainless steel vats, without the addition of wood.

This Viré-Clessé Cuvée EJ Thévenet ''Quintaine'' 2018 from Domaine de la Bongran is the flagship cuvée of Domaine de la Bongran and retains between 2g and 4g of residual sugar, which makes it a very high level wine.
Generous and demonstrative, this cuvée opens with aromas of pear, peach, honey, almonds and white flowers. A full-bodied, satiny wine with a rich volume on the palate and remarkable balance. Like every year, this Viré Clessé Quintaine cuvée E.J Thévenet from Domaine de la Bongran is a high-class wine that will age wonderfully.
