Description
Viré-Clessé Blanc "Quintaine" 2018 | Wine from Domaine de la Bongran
Located in Quintaine, between Viré and Clessé in the Mâconnais, the Domaine de la Bongran is an essential reference in Burgundy. Led by Jean Thévenet since 1972, joined by his son Gautier in 1996, the estate has specialized in producing wines from the Chardonnay grape, with a unique characteristic: the mastery of residual sugars in white wines. The estate has been certified organic since 2012 and pays special attention to harvesting grapes at optimal maturity to offer wines with exceptional aromatic richness. The vines, planted on white marl soils, give the wines beautiful natural acidity, even at high maturity. Another unique feature, the wines are aged for at least 2 years in stainless steel tanks, without the use of wood, allowing the purity of the aromas to be preserved.
The Viré-Clessé Blanc "Quintaine" 2018 is the flagship cuvée of the Domaine de la Bongran. This organic wine reflects the full expertise of the Thévenet family. Made from Chardonnay, this white wine retains between 2 and 4 g of residual sugars, thus offering a perfect balance between sweetness and freshness. The 2018 vintage is characterized by aromatic generosity, with notes of pear, peach, honey, and a subtle touch of white flowers. On the palate, this wine reveals itself to be full-bodied, silky, with remarkable volume, all supported by a beautiful acidity that gives it an elegant structure and impressive aging potential.
The Viré-Clessé "Quintaine" 2018 opens with a generous bouquet of aromas of pear, peach, and honey, enhanced by hints of almond and white flowers. On the palate, it stands out for its ample and silky texture, offering great richness and a remarkable balance between acidity and volume. This wine demonstrates a beautiful length on the palate and a unique finesse that will develop further over time.
This exceptional wine will pair wonderfully with refined dishes such as fish in sauce, shellfish, or white meats with cream. It also pairs perfectly with soft cheeses like brie or camembert, as well as fruity desserts based on pears or apples.
