On Champagne: A Tapestry of Tales to Celebrate the Greatest Sparkling Wine of All is a masterful work that brings together the thoughts, opinions, and conclusions of the greatest writers specializing in champagne. This book explores the captivating journey of this exceptional wine, from the myth of its accidental discovery – which, as revealed here, did not occur in France but in the cider cellars of England – to the development of a high-tech champagne ready for space travel.
The book begins with the quest to capture the sparkle in a bottle and takes us through the nuances of the chalky terroir, the determination of the rebels from Ambonnay to Avize, and the mystery of an underwater champagne cellar. Readers will meet the pioneers who created the great champagnes of the past and the personalities who today are greening this landscape by protecting it from the effects of climate change to shape the exquisite champagnes of the future.

About the author:
Susan Keevil began her career in the wine world as a "cellar rat" in Australia, chilling Chardonnays in the Hunter Valley. This experience, although formative, did not prepare her for the world of book publishing in the United Kingdom, where she honed her knowledge while working with Hugh Johnson on six editions of his international bestseller, the Pocket Wine Book. Susan then served as editor-in-chief of Decanter magazine before becoming the author of the Which? Guide to Wine and a regular columnist. The launch of the Académie du Vin Library in 2019 marked her return to publishing specialized wine books, where she is now a writer and editorial director.
