Description
"Bourgogne, regard intime" by Roberto Petronio is a visual and literary exploration of the Burgundy wine landscape, centered on the iconic Côte d'Or region. This book is much more than just a collection of images; it is a deep dive into the soul of Burgundy crus, revealing their unique character through a series of carefully selected images.
Petronio's work highlights fragments of paths, walls, and vegetation, all captured with an abstract and subjective approach. These visual elements aim to translate, through imagery, the temperament and essence of the crus from one of the most enigmatic and fascinating vineyards in the world: Burgundy.
The text accompanying these images offers an essential counterpoint, illuminating the distinctive character of Burgundy climates. It also sheds light on the evolution and development of this prestigious vineyard over the past thirty years. Petronio's reflections emphasize the importance of producers' styles and their influence on the aesthetics of these crus, paying tribute to the creativity and ingenuity of the winemakers.
A quote from academic Morgan Kieffer perfectly summarizes the essence of this work: "It is not the ingenuity or virtuosity of a style that moves us, but what these reveal about reality; aesthetics is nothing but a way to enhance experience." This sentence embodies the spirit of the book, where each image and word is chosen to offer a new perspective on Burgundy and its wines.
The images in "Bourgogne, regard intime" were initially presented at the national stage of Sceaux, as part of the project "La Matière du monde", initiated by Franck Tortiller. This multidisciplinary project, which combines music, image, and wine, is the result of the collaboration between Petronio and Tortiller, two artists passionate about Burgundy.
This book-CD is a vibrant tribute to Burgundy, marrying visual art, music, and viticulture in a unique work. Roberto Petronio, journalist and photographer, has been collaborating with the Revue du Vin de France since 1998 and is also co-author of the Guide des Meilleurs Vins de France since 2007. Franck Tortiller, on the other hand, is an internationally renowned vibraphonist and composer, whose career extends well beyond French borders.
"Bourgogne, regard intime" is a must-have for all lovers of wine, photography, and art. It captures the essence of Burgundy and offers a unique perspective on the evolution of its crus and landscapes over the decades.
