In 1973, when Edmond de Rothschild acquired the property, he sensed all the wealth and potential of Château Clarke. This Cru Bourgeois Supérieur, property in the 18th century of an Irish family that gave it its name, was in disrepair.
A visionary, builder, and wine enthusiast, the baron then embarked on a titanic project. He had the estate restored, new facilities built, the entire vineyard of over 145 hectares redesigned and replanted, which now houses Château Clarke, Château Malmaison, and Château Odilon.
In 1997, Ariane and Benjamin de Rothschild proudly continued the story and carried Edmond's legacy even higher, placing innovation and the pursuit of excellence at the heart of their creations, in France and internationally.
Today, half a century after its acquisition by Baron Edmond de Rothschild, the estate, with a new look embellished by significant renovations, is one of the largest vineyards in the Médoc and an icon of its appellation.
Here, in this unique and serene atmosphere of Château Clarke, vines, wines, and gardens unite in symbiosis. They share the same joy of living, the same aesthetic experience. With its wines, Château Clarke invites you to uncover the mystery down to its most subtle aromatic nuances.
The book almost reads like the plant calendar: at the roots of the adventure, there's creative impulse and family tradition; then, as the leaves and flowers bloom, the craftsmanship and lifestyle at Château Clarke are revealed, culminating in harvesting the fruits of the vine, with a highlight being a tasting of the estate's flagship vintages.
