Description
The history of the Médoc began long before the cultivation of the vine. Dust of islands scattered in the vast mouth of the Gironde, much further west than today and carved by coastal estuaries, the Médoc early on presented an interest for merchant ships, even before the Bronze Age. The largest estuary in Europe has brought it both fortunes and misfortunes throughout history, and the rise of its vineyards has made it a universally known region. This long history is vividly recounted by Marie-José Thiney.SommaireLes avatars of the MédocRiver of forgetfulnessPaying the MédoquineThe walking pathMontjoies of shifting arenasThe diamonds of the Médoc
