Description
One can write about time "from above," as a technician of pure philosophy. But one can also approach the question "from below," starting from the earth to arrive at some certainties that can be regarded as constituting a theory in the etymological sense. This "theory of Sauternes" is therefore not to be placed in the gastronomy or oenology section (although it may seem so) – it is an ontological work, a text that questions the being of things and proposes to think about it starting from Sauternes wine, this legendary wine. With this book, Michel Onfray aims, in the manner of Gaston Bachelard, to think about reality based on its manifestations. From the marl of the subsoil to the liquid in the crystal glass, we follow the evolution of a mystery that goes from matter to delight. A journey that is not likely to displease Michel Onfray, this metaphysician of hedonism.
